【Welcome Note】

Thank you for your interest in the MindKindness Fellowship. Before completing this application, we invite you to pause and create a quiet space for reflection. The following questions evaluate your readiness for the program and offer you an opportunity for meaningful self-inquiry.

The MindKindness Fellowship is a journey of uncompromising compassion. It requires a commitment to knowing yourself at the deepest level and extending that understanding to others. This 100-day practice requires genuine dedication, courage, and a willingness to encounter light and shadow within yourself.

We ask that you approach these questions honestly and carefully. There are no "right" answers—only authentic ones. Your responses help Dr. Home understand your unique journey and how the fellowship might serve your growth. They will also allow you to clarify your intentions and commitment.

The application process itself is a threshold experience. By engaging thoughtfully with these questions, you begin the practice of presence and self-reflection that forms the heart of the MindKindness approach.

Take your time. Listen deeply. Respond from your center.

【Why Dr. Home's Journey Matters to You】

Dr. Home's path—from surviving 19 days adrift at sea to teaching at top universities and working with the World Bank, then finding himself walking among Balinese rice fields—carries a universal truth: authentic transformation emerges not from escaping life's challenges but from integrating them.

This offering is a tribute to two of his root teachers, integrating the relentless determination of Goenkaji's Vipassana with the gentle healing of Thich Nhat Hanh's mindfulness. Dr. Home brings over 35 years of experience in coaching, facilitation, and research on adult learning and leadership to create an approach that meets you exactly where you are, while inviting you to grow beyond what you thought possible.

His journey through remarkable transitions—from theater director to healer during the HIV/AIDS epidemic to scholar-researcher of mindful leadership—has equipped him to guide you through your integration process. The questions he has wrestled with are likely the same ones you face now:

  • How can I cultivate mindfulness while meeting the demands of my career and relationships?

  • Is it possible to develop spiritual depth without abandoning my responsibilities?

  • Can inner work translate into tangible results in my external reality?

Dr. Home created MindKindness because conventional approaches weren't addressing these questions. When his Columbia University students ran out of meditation classes crying, he recognized the need for a path that honors both rigor and accessibility—what he calls "uncompromising compassion."

【What MindKindness Offers That Other Approaches Don't】

Common challenges with traditional mindfulness:

  • Time constraints: Traditional retreats require 10+ days away from responsibilities

  • Trauma triggers: Standard meditation instructions can overwhelm those with unprocessed trauma

  • Integration difficulties: Retreat insights often fade when confronting daily life

  • Isolation: Many practices ignore the relational dimension of growth

MindKindness solutions:

  • 100 hours spread over 100 days fit into your life

  • The eight-petal framework provides a trauma-informed approach

  • Practices bridge inner awareness with outer engagement

  • The community model embeds practice within supportive relationships

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Home's online sessions grew from a handful to thousands of participants, with many describing them as "better than therapy" and life-saving during dark times.

【Qualities of The MindKindness Practitioner】

The fellowship welcomes those who embody these values:

  • Devoted Explorers: View growth as a lifelong practice with curiosity and openness

  • Courageous Connectors: Engage authentically with others to accelerate growth

  • Compassionate Innovators: Honor tradition while embracing innovation

  • Cultural Bridge-Builders: Move fluidly between different perspectives and worlds

Elevating Presence: Lift others through your presence and choose the "better hard" path

【Code of Conduct】

All participants agree to five core precepts:

  • Refrain from harming yourself or others

  • Maintain honesty in all interactions

  • Avoid sexual misconduct

  • Abstain from intoxicants that impair awareness

  • Practice self-observation and return to your intention when you stray

The program cultivates uncompromising compassion—genuine kindness with clear boundaries.

【The Choice Before You】

You can choose the "better hard" path—facing challenges now for greater ease later, rather than avoiding growth and facing harder consequences.

MindKindness offers:

  • Clarity amid confusion

  • Connection in a fragmented world

  • Contribution from your authentic center

This isn't another self-improvement checkbox. It's a path to transformative presence for yourself and others.

Your seat in the circle of twelve awaits. Will you claim it?
