Cultivating Hosts - Farm Salon Fellowships
The cultivating hosts weekend is for returning farm salon fellows. The weekend is limited to those who have attended a farm salon in the past so that we can quicken the pace of creating a container together as well as pursue practices that thicken the salon environment. These practices can include but are not limited to coursework to build specific skills, engaging in deep mirroring and vulnerability to increase our self awareness and awareness of others, and taking on aspects of farm salon hosting to learn and refine ways of hospitality that can be applied in settings outside the salon weekend.
Simply put, if you choose to attend this weekend it is because you would like to pursue a deepening of past farm salon experiences as a returning fellow and you would like to do this in the company of other returning fellows.
The information below has been streamlined from the normal salon event page since you should already know what to expect. We have kept the sections on commitment and principles so that you can remind yourself of the environment we will cultivate together. The content schedule is the biggest change for these returning fellows only weekends. We will go deeper than the connection provided by our traditional anchor themes. See below for more.
Friday: please arrange your travel to arrive between 7:30 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
Saturday: The schedule for this day will combine guided Power Zone or Thrive Zone work from the MindKind team as well as a self-led, online beginner's introduction to Theory U. We will do these practices together so that we can reflect on them while they are fresh in mind. Please bring a laptop computer in addition to your normal salon packing list.
Sunday: spiritual practice :: brunch :: cleanup :: weekend formally ends at 2:00 P.M.
Monthly farm salons have been hosted by prime produce and our friends at the MindKind Institute since January 2014. Our hosting team intentionally keeps group size small so conversations and connections happen in a human-sized setting. Participants in this weekend fellowship can reserve one of 10-12 slots by pledging to attend from Friday at 7:30 P.M. to Sunday at 2:00 P.M. Because each attendee counts, and because demand to attend often exceeds the salon's mission-defined capacity, we also ask that participants make a refundable upon attendance financial deposit in order to express meaningful commitment. The deposit can be waived if it prevents anyone from attending. Follow the link below for more information.
Hosts and guests agree to the following principles.
Curiosity: Ask questions. Ask beautiful questions. Ask care-full questions. Take nothing for granted.
Hospitality: We host each other through cultivating not only a hospitality of place, but also a hospitality of mind, and a hospitality of heart.
Presence: Show up. Pause. Breathe. Turn off technology. Turn on the light from the inside out. Welcome to here and now.
Remembrance: Reflect on assumptions that have hardened into world views. Remind your body of its needs.
